Northseafood Holland BV, founded in Urk in 1982, is the leading flatfish processor for the European Retail market. In 2017, Quotter Group, one of the largest fishing groups in the Netherlands, became a majority shareholder: as a result of this acquisition, Northseafood strengthened its position in the market through direct and privileged access to raw material. The products portfolio was developed mainly on the fish species caught in the North Sea (plaice, dover sole and cod) but a few years ago the company added to its production different raw materials such as Pacific plaice, wild salmon, sea bass and seabream. Northseafood produces for leading brands such as Findus and Captain Iglo and under the brand names of major European retail chains, and produces under its own brand name for the catering market. The company has obtained BRC, IFS, ASC, BIO and MSC certifications.
